Hi guys, just rigged up my first brew using a 100w aquarium heater in a bucket of water. Temperature control is brilliant and seems to be working a treat as the airlock on my stout is going mental! My only worry is that the FV is floating slightly and as such the wort and FV are sitting slightly off level and as such may move slightly, does anyone know if this will cause any issues during fermentation I should worry about? Cheers Jono:thumb:

I had that once, when syphoning the FV, having not thought about emptying the trug first. Halfway down the FV started to float and tip over! I now syphon the trug first (with an old bit of hose - *NOT* my sanitised autosyphon!)

As long as you FV isn't at risk of tipping it shouldn't be an issue, but make sure you don't do what I did!

Cheers for the help guys. Taking on board what you've advised, I've lightly taped the FV to the trug bucket, the wort is now sat level and the FV is stable enough. My main concerns were that the wort wasn't sat level prior to taping and that the bobbing of the FV might cause a disturbance to fermentation. Think I'm needlessly worrying but you can never be too careful. Thanks again.

your worrying to much as it advisable to stir it up if it gets stuck so don't worry about disturbing it it will settle back down again
