Do you fish for Salmon?

No, mainly trout locally. The salmon runs are expensive to fish in and a bit hit and miss these days. I think the best places for salmon are quite far north. One day maybe...

I fish for trout as well as salmon, it must be a great day out fishing in Norway with your beautiful scenery

It can be, if the weather's kind and the midges have gone. And the pike haven't eaten everything...

You're not far from bonny Scotland up there Steve. Lots of scenery and salmon.

I suppose rather the term 'bucket list' has replaced 'ambition' in part.

I've done things i'll never repeat before I die, such as walk down snowdon (took the train up ) but it wasn't on my bucket list, it was a nice to do that turned out to be a once in a lifetime experience.

my point here is that the weather was so perfect it would be impossible to recreate that day again so trying to re-capture that perfect day when there are lots of other things you'd like to do becomes a distraction.

I lie here, the day could have been improved if on the way up on the train I wasn't sitting opposite a small kid flicking yogurt with her spoon :nono:

But I do still hope to nip to westerleven and pick up some 12 or at least drink it in their cafe.

My son's mate has a bottle of Westvleteren 12 that he has promised to me. Maybe it was worth having kids after all. :-)

Mind you, he says it's over-rated. :-o

The very best experiences come from nowhere, without any plans or pre-selected outcomes, and the greatness of the occasion is never determined by how grand or humble the activity is.

I'll have more of them, please! And a Pint, if you're offering

that's the problem, sometimes stuff is over-hyped. I remember seeing the mona lisa and thinking meh! but the glass pyramid outside the louvre and and a painting of beach huts (can't remember the name) by the northern french coastline hypnotised me.

Re: westvleteren 12 it depends what your preferences are at the time. In summer ? - maybe not. Winter time - absolutly :-)

Absolutely spot on Halfacrem. And almost always never replicable, no matter how hard you try. I once had an amazing experience being so close to a female turtle laying eggs that I could have reached out and caught them. Would I want to do it again? Not really, I almost felt like I shouldn't have been there, but I was, I made the most of it, and the memory will never leave me. Bucket list? Would never have been on it, because I never even considered it. As for the name, bucket list, to me that's all it is - a name. Call it what you like, everyone wishes for something, someone has labelled it, others have taken that label. So what? Your personal desires are just that - personal. If you want to call that desire by a name that someone else has chosen, it's up to you. My list, for what it's worth, is known in our family as the 'do it or don't, but don't and you'll never do' list.

We are all sort of terminally ill aren't we?! :-) If bucket lists are for people who know they're going to die, that includes me. And you. :thumb:

And I'm mid fifties and spent most of my life arsing about, working to pay bills, and bringing kids up.
