The morrisons craft beer disappoint...

I had a good laugh at this yesterday.. the state of the options for new and upcoming craft brewers is abysmal in morrisons right now. Are they completely unaware what all the other major chains are doing? Please if anyone here works for them point them in the right direction! Jeez whoever is in chanrge of thier procurement of beers needs the sack!

They've always seemed a bit behind the times on this front. Their "Beer Festival" always seems to be just some very average Marstons or Greene King specials.

Tesco are way ahead of most on this front, I'd even say second to Waitrose. The only other place that came close on this were Whole Foods Market but they closed the Cheltenham branch after Amazon took them over.

I always enjoy perusing tesco/asda when i get the chance but i live quite rural and morrisons is the only supermarket within 45 mins of me.. ive taken to using beerhawk for my craft fix but im certainly paying over rhe odds for it!

If you're privileged enough to live in the north then Booths have a massive range of beers from all over the country. Also they have some Belgians.

Morrisons are terrible although I have seen a few more Northern Monk beers there. There is one my friend swears by but I haven't seen that one in my local store.

Tesco is average at best. The only beer from there that I would buy that the others don't have is BD v Cloudwater.

Waitrose selection looks good but no store for about 100 miles.

I find a lot depends on the size of the store, my local M&S has a fantastic selection, but it is mahoosive.

I wish supermarkets would highlight some local beers, rather than just those sufficiently mass produced to sell nationwide.

Definitely the opposite round here. Asda is pretty hopeless on craft beer near me, Tesco quite good. Have a great independent off sales within a few miles of me though, excellent selection of craft and Belgian/German beer. He will try to get you beer he doesn't usually stock if he can too.

Living in hipster SE London I have a few bottle shops that I can go to if I want to buy craft beer

I met up with friends in the East Midlands last weekend, before I travelled I went in to my local Tesco, in Cardiff, to get some beers to take with me. I'm managed to find 8 Welsh beers that I am sure my friends wouldn't have seen before.

The amount of cider they stock is crazy.. whoever made the call that cider would be the next big thing in the north of scotland seriously missed the mark!

Hackney Tesco is below par for craft beer, they do stock Wild Card, Crate and Five points They dropped Fourpure juicebox in a flash,
but I do have clapton craft. so all is balanced.
(but in the interest of clarity I do work for Wild Card and I don't want people to start making accusations, that I am being paid to promote said products)

Thier idea of what craft beer even is made me cringe, cry and laugh all at the same time!

Disagree that its over priced on everything. Normally have slabs of Jennings offerings at a quid a bottle. Got to say I was in Keswick one recently and I have never seen a better range of bottled ales in a supermarket. Loved how it was organised by region : Cumbria, lancs , yorks cheshire etc. Granted thougj some of the ones not on offer were 2 quid.

I love fairly rurally in Scotland and our Tesco has a very good selection, including two of your beers. They had two Wold Card also before they refreshed their range a couple of months ago.

Hackney Tesco

To be fair to the booze manager of Hackney Tesco, there’s not exactly a dearth of retailers of craft beer in east London these days. I wish Clapton Craft had been around when I lived that way as a young’un in the early 00’s. Of course, I’d have had to invent craft beer first. And now I’d be rich. Instead I just bought whatever was cheapest (probably Efes, or something similarly ghastly ) from the convenience shop opposite the round chapel. Happy days.

Beer isn't tooooo bad. Fortunately it's not something I spend a lot of money on because fortunately........erm...........I brew my own!
