The rate of deaths attributable to Covid 19 has now dropped to approximately half of it's peak value in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, which is encouraging.

If the current lockdown rules are relaxed over the coming months then common sense is essential. Just because you are allowed for example, to visit relatives doesn't mean that you should do it, or that it is safe to do so. We all have to take responsibility for our actions and their consequences.

Spot on MB.

However, the UK government put out a clarification saying people can only meet one person outside at a time - not two people, such as both parents, at the same time.

This was my point. My wife and I can drive anywhere we want and sunbath 2 meters from other couples but can't meet our family as a couple even though they are all living in the same household as are my wife and I.

Not the UK government. Public health is a devolved issue. BJ is only speaking for and about England.

Just watching BJ in the house someone asked him how they would lock down certain area's if there was a spike, and he mentioned if it was in the water supply never heard that mentioned before

I see quite a few wearing face masks but bunched up like sardines

The worst thing about that is people seem unaware that these non medical masks do not stop you breathing it in they only stop you spreading it, at that distance i doubt if you were wearing a mask it would stop the person next to you from getting it if you had it.

I see quite a few wearing face masks but bunched up like sardines won't help them much. As for the rest they must be the Invincible ones..

Poor sods probably have no other choice but to either go to work or starve/be made homeless.

Whoever came up with the 'stay at home it you can but go to work if you cant' that BJ came out with yesterday eve obviously has never worked a minimum wage/low wage job. Most of those kind of jobs cant be done from home and the wage is so low you HAVE to go to work as theirs not enough left over at the end of the month to save up to make a cushion against things like what is happening at the moment

I never stopped working and the provisions put in place by Seagate IRL would honestly put the GOV to shame.
Personal thermometer
Thermal imaging for temp on entry where you must put on gloves and a medical mask.
Social distancing when entering cleanroom with an additional exit put in place.
Max 3 people in pre gowning with viewing monitors in place.
Perspex screens dividing seating benches.
Cleaning tripled.
Working from home for majority of the office based staff where possible role dependant and the list goes.
That scene on the tube is a mockery to people's lives and should be policed properly with additional transport laid on to reduce people boarding and for segregation.

Your work sounds positively space age 👨‍🚀

Am I beingthick here all international arrivees need to go into qurantine unless youa re from France?

I am sure there is a logical reason I am missing but it just sounds like some mockery.

IF there is no logical reason then how can people expect people to follow the rules when its just amde up as they go along?

Public advised to cover faces in enclosed spaces

The public is advised to consider wearing face coverings in enclosed public spaces such as shops, trains and buses to help reduce the spread of coronavirus.
  • People who use public transport or visit shops should consider covering their mouth and nose based on advice from SAGE
  • Face coverings are not a replacement for social distancing and regular handwashing which remain the most important actions, says Chief Medical Officer
  • Public urged not to buy medical grade masks so they can be saved for frontline health and care workers, and instead make their own face coverings at home
Professor Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer said:

Wearing a face covering is an added precaution that may have some benefit in reducing the likelihood that a person with the infection passes it on.
The most effective means of preventing the spread of this virus remains following social distancing rules and washing your hands regularly. It does not remove the need to self-isolate if you have symptoms.
COVID-19 can be spread directly by droplets from coughs, sneezes and speaking. These droplets can also be picked up from surfaces by touch and subsequently from touching the face. That is why hand hygiene is so important in controlling the infection.

Evidence shows a face covering can help in reducing the spread of droplets and therefore potentially infecting others, and could help to reduce the spread of infection as lockdown measures start to be lifted. It is important people refrain from touching their face covering when wearing it, where possible, to avoid hand to mask transmission of the virus.

I dont get that. There doesn't seem to be any explanation for it (well not that I've come across yet). Is it scientific or political I wonder?

It is when you first come in to the factory.
Class 5 and class 6 cleanroom maintained at 20.5° (Fermenter Heaven) with Hepa and Ulpa filters constantly running to reduce dust and moisture plus you have to wear a cleanroom suit complete with boots and prior to gowning booties, hairnet, gloves and face mask must be donned.
PITA when your having to work at machines which can cost millions of dollars all to produce read/write heads for hard drives which are critical for storing information used by the NHS, government and so on.
Essential workers...

This is all i can find on BBC -

Following Mr Johnson's speech, No 10 confirmed a reciprocal deal with the government in Paris meant restrictions would not apply to passengers from France.

In a joint statement, the UK and French governments said they had agreed to "work together in taking forward appropriate border measures", adding: "This co-operation is particularly necessary for the management of our common border."

The statement added: "No quarantine measures would apply to travellers coming from France at this stage; any measures on either side would be taken in a concerted and reciprocal manner.

"A working group between the two governments will be set up to ensure this consultation throughout the coming weeks."

However, the announcement has raised questions about whether international travellers could avoid 14-days in isolation by passing through France on their way to the UK.

Number 10 says further details of the new rules will be set out before they come into force.

France, ROI, NI, IOW, Channel Isles and all internal UK flights are exempt.

Yeah, the reciprocal agreement is all I can find. Perhaps it's meant as a boost to both the French and English tourist industry. There's also a huge french population in London. If London was a shared city between England and France the amount of French here would constitute the 6th biggest city in France. That also may have something to do with it as I imagine theres a lot of trave between London and France for French commuters

One you have worn a face mask for a few minutes, they become moist from respiration. This causes a "bridge", and renders most of them absolutely useless...

... I might go out with the wife's panties on my head (not that I don't usually), they'd be just as good!
