"MPs have been offered an extra £10,000 each to support them while they work from home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The extra budget can be used to buy equipment such as laptops and printers for MPs and their staff, or to cover additional electricity, heating and phone bills. The money, which comes on top of the existing office budget of about £26,000 a year per MP, will be available until March.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa), the expenses regulator, also relaxed rules on the evidence MPs must provide and suspended the 90-day window for claims.

The credit limit on MPs’ payment cards has been increased to £10,000, and they can now spend up to £5,000 in a single transaction."

I cant imagine any of them getting a bus to work

IME a surprising number of professionals, particularly in media, live in the nice bits of south London with no Tube and trains provided by SWT so regularly commute by bus, although the location of the BBC perhaps means they're not among them.

'passing' people is definitely still happening on a big scale.

To be fair, that's one of the relatively low risks on the global scheme of things, particularly if it's windy. The big problem is where people like bus drivers and shop workers are confined in a box with customers coughing away, and there's nothing to stop the aerosols lingering in the air.

It used to be horrendous in S.London for getting about but the (new - relative to the other trains) London Overground has really helped. All the proffessionals are on that now all the poor people are on the bus

Ah yeah, agree its not a major issue in terms of health, just commenting that the numbers were up on what would it would normally be. I back on to an old rail track which is part of the national cycleway. I have noticed a massive increase in walkers and cyclist since the lockdown.

A contractor for the London Ambulance Service has been arrested on suspicion of stealing "a large number" of face masks.

The man, in his 20s, was arrested at the Edmonton Ambulance Station on Wednesday morning.

The Met Police alleged the man was trying to sell the face masks and other products online.

He has been bailed until a date in mid-April, the Met Police added.

Det Insp Jason Colby said he was "saddened" anyone would "take advantage of the NHS for their financial gain".

"These masks are a vital piece of PPE for emergency service personnel and are used to keep both themselves and patients safe," Det Insp Colby added.

"We will continue to crack down on anyone attempting to take advantage of our emergency services for personal gain, especially at such an unprecedented time."

Officers were able to recover a number of items during their searches and these have been returned to LAS.

That's really unfair @MyQul . If you are forced to work from home, HMRC allow you to claim an allowance for exactly the same thing.

It's £6 a week.

Before tax. :laugh8: :laugh8:
