Well had to take Sunday off, as I had to give the family some time, and it was back to the day job yesterday, so progress has slowed again.

However since the last update I have.

Wired Panel no 2 & tested all aok.
Installed my 3PH 10mm2 SWA supply cable to both panels.
& tonights job was to cut and fit the frame for the Mash Tun False Bottom

1st side of the the FB cut and fitted.

2nd section cut and fitted

Just have to tig it all in place and add some supports so it doesn't bend when in use and we should be good to go, with a Tun suitable for up to 10BBL brewlength brews. :D

I hope to have my HLT working by the weekend, so I can kick my 1bbl Pilot plant in, because I have to get two beers ready for Styal Beer Festival which is in Mid July.

nice work shane keep it up, you could probably charge £10 for every bottle of beer cos everyone on the forum will want a bottle from your first proper batch!

Well loads of Stainless Fittings arrived today, & I spent a lot of this evening scratching my head in wonder, trying to remember what is supposed to go where as I ordered the stuff last week and have had several sleeps since then :D

However I have had a big win of the day, as I Have got the HLT Panel almost completed, (cant finalise until another PID arrives in the Post) but managed to get my agitator wired up and tested.

It Works See Here

Therefore I should now have a lovely 2500Ltr HLT with a homogenous temperature due to constant gentle agitation.

I have also tested my new spinning sparge arm & it works to great effect, Very Short Little Video Here

Should not be too long before I can start to test the Tanks, & am hoping to get a brew on within Two Weeks :D

Wish me Luck I am going to need it

Out of interest what yeast are you going to use Shane.

A strain of saccharomyces cerevisiae ;)

First couple of brews will most probably be using Dried, I have a 500g pack of Mauribrew Ale to chuck in, but I hope to be using a House strain of Liquid Yeast longterm, I just need to get the process right & repeatable and brewing @ least once a week before I over-complicate matters by adding a liquid strain, & suffer the husbandry matters involved in keeping it healthy.

Sounds a sensible plan. Don't know if you have ever spoke to Alison at brewlabs. I found her very helpful and they claim to work for a lot of professional brewers, bet that sounds good.

The Strain I am planning on using longterm wont be coming from Brulabs, ;) although I have used them before and they are very good.

To be honest the actual strain I am keeping close to my chest for several reasons, I am happy to share any recipes etc but not strain info, hope you understand why.

Well a bit of a nervous breakdown (I think) has put the brakes on this week had a 23hr spell in bed zonked out thursday/friday, stress has set in after a bad week but Some progress has made things go forward today.

Bling for the copper is almost finished a Boy racers Cherry Bomb (Hopback)

Just have to get the inner filtration part rolled and welded and we should have a goer.

Underback is fabricated, (just needs insulating)

I have added 50mm of insulation to the top of the HLT and then a Space blanket on top of that and tested the heating with the HLT 1/3rd full sat at 55deg C once Heaters turned off, lost 1Deg in 1hr, therefore I am expecting it to perform very well once full. (hopefully going to get all pumps connected and the brewery cleaned with caustic by close of play tomorrow)

Of nearly forgot, The false bottom of my mash tun now has stainless bolts fitted as supports so it doesn't buckle with a mash in.

Very impressive, nice to see your not letting the home brewing get out of hand ;)

Wow, just read through this thread and what a magnificent effort, hope all continues to go well, brilliant    oh to be a few years younger
