Syphon holes one inch from end

Hey guys,

My syphon tube has two small holes one inch from the end (the end which would go into the brew rather than bottle) why is this? I'm worried I'll be stuck with some brew I can't syphon.

The holes are there to stop you syphoning the last bit out of the fermenter. You don't want the last bit as it will be full of sediment.

This type of siphon is becoming increasingly difficult to source as most now have a much wider cup arrangement at the bottom, meaning you can't physically fit them (the cup type) into 2 litre ex-cider flagons, or even a wine bottle that you've poured some dregs into to let them settle before taking the clear must off the top once it's settled.

Where did you get it from?

Useful if you have a very large container, such as a barrel, when the sediment is very thick. Rather wasteful if you are using anything smaller.

i think he got it from the place that should not be named cos thats where i got mine from as part of a milestone starter kit but you may die or your brew may turn to putrid vinegar before you receive it
