Can I ask please what you use to write on you demijohns

No i am a tight git, i numbered all my DJ's with with a permanent marker, now when i fill one i make a note in a book with the DJ number, date and what it is, later when i rack it i note the new DJ number and the date i racked to it and added finings etc.

We drank the red grape, strawberry and kiwi with an extra litre of red grape juice soon after it was bottled, I never let my juice wine go to .990 as its too dry, once its got to a bubble a minute or two I finish it, its a little sweeter and a little less ABV.

at what sort of fg do you reckon you stop your wows 1.000?

I never measured it, it used to get down to .990 if left until I never saw a bubble for a couple of minutes, I don't now bother about readings and ABV.

started another wowv yesterday
1L Lidl RGJ 99p
2L Alsi apple n mango 99p each
700g sugar
tsp of each
Pectolase
Yeast nutrient
Yeast
3 bag mug of tea
3 tbsp lemon juice

it was frothing nicely after a couple of hours and this morning it is in full lava lamp mode.

I used 3L of juice in this one as when racking my first wowv with 2L of juice I thought it lacked a bit of body compared to my usual fruit wines, but then I usually use more fruit than most recipes require for the same reason.

I will try some glycerine at some point in a future wowv for comparison.
I've heard of it being used as fining agent and to reduce the sharpness of young wine, does it help with body too?

Where are folks getting there glycerine from?

does it help with body too?

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT: Use Glycerine in your wine to give it more body. Glycerine increases the wine`s mouth-feel giving it a fuller, more pleasant texture. Glycerine also smooths over some of the harsh characteristics that are prevalent in most younger wines. It is a colourless, odourless, viscous syrup that has little noticeable flavour except for a slight sweetness.

Mrs Tea gets mine from the supermarket.

A question if I may.
I have wowv which has been fermenting at 24 drug for 10 days it is still sweet at 1.010
However it is already strong in flavour and I'm guessing in alcohol (didn't take initial reading). It bubbles every 6 or 7 seconds.
Could I add water to make it less alcoholic. And if so should I do so now or after racking.

Add water after it has been racked and degassed as you will want to leave a bit of space to allow for degassing. I always top mine up with water to bring it up to the 6 bottle mark after an initial fill to the shoulder on a 1 gallon DJ.

There is no set time for fermentation, its cooler in our houses so it takes longer in winter, one its only bubbling once a minute its close to being finished.

Yeah got the room constant 24deg or pretty close. But seem to be taking so much longer than kits do. No probs just want to try and get it right. Thanks for all the help.
