Although I've not done my Solomon Grundy kits yet I'd place them 2 levels below the wine expert kits. That's purely based on their price and amount of grape compound included. They'll all have some sugars included in the juice mix but less so the more you spend. For comparison the SG kits have approx 5 litres of compound, the on the house 6.5 litres then 8 in the wine expert.
I must state that my palate is quite forgiving so I don't mind the 5 litre kits. Other people may/do turn their noses up at them and insist that if you don't spend £70-£80 at a minimum on a red wine kit they'll all taste like muck
