Hello all
A couple of years ago me the Mrs and kids were out on a day out to the coast,West Wales.
There was a house clearance type sale on the street...all sorts of junk in boxes and on table tops, which my eldest son wanted to rummage through.
Anyway he finds a small painting in a box of stuff,of a boat and wants to buy it coz he likes it..a fiver. So I says please yourself..
It's signed Stobart. It's in what looks like an original frame and has an old label on the back with old 4 digit telephone numbers and what looks like an auction lot number.
I did some research at the time and it's an English maritime artist,John Stobart who died January 2023,aged 93,having lived in America most of his life.
I spoke to someone at his gallery in Massachusets who asked could I bring the painting there as he thought it sounded like one of his early works but needed to see it! Errr...no chance! Then correspondence stopped and we forgot about it until recently sorting my lads room out and looking at the picture again.
So...I'm not going to the US..but wonder if it's the real deal!

$500 if in good condition.

Sent them, that's when they asked to see it. I did see an article where the artist had a selection of his early work that were never going on sale and it's very similar.
