Glad there was no permanent damage.
After two lots of eye surgery following an injury that tore up my retina and a damaged the muscles behind my right eye requiring fairly extensive repair and a viterectomy, I now use safety glasses for brewing, DIY, gardening and cycling.

As for the "cataract op from hell" mentioned above, how about a power cut half way through the operation and having the aesthetic wear off while tools are inside your eyeball?
It takes self control to not move and wait until the tools come out to tell them that you can feel everything.
There should be a aUPS system (uninterrupted power supply) installed in every hospital,I thought there was in the form of generators?

Everything went dark, the generators (or whatever) kicked in after a minute or so and then everything had to be re-booted.
It was long enough.

Glad to hear you are okay.
I try to avoid nasty chemicals in my brewing wherever possible e.g use PBW rather than caustic and although I do use beer line cleaner I opted for a submersible aquarium pump to circulate it rather than pressure to avoid precisely what happened to you (there is still the possibility of me knocking the container over etc but it seemed to me to be more controlled).
Did you pressurise using a garden sprayer or with CO2?

Starsan is a good example of a 'nasty chemical' in its concentrated form that many brewers will use without understanding what is can do. It's based on phosphoric acid which being one of the mineral acids like sulphuric and nitric can be highly corrosive, as I found out when a my bottle leaked ever so slightly and dissolved the carpet under where I keep it, cardboard boxes upon which is slowly dripped, and it etched a metal surface. So handle it with care.

Good point! Always eye wear and gloves with that too and is stored under lock and key.
