Storing me wine?

OK so now I have more bottles of wine than the misses is happy with sitting on the kitchen side so wondering how best to store them?

I just cleared a whole heap of sh!t out my garage with the thought of storing it out there, i even have a shelf unit with a few wine rack shelves out there would this be OK?
But i'm sure I read some where that home made wine should be laid down is this true?

I suppose i could stand my bottles up but this would take up lots more room and i would need to build another shelving unit which is a pain in the ar$e!

How does everyone else store the wine?

If you've used screw tops, store it upright.
If you've used corks, lie it on its side.
If you've used plastic stoppers, please yourself.

Ideally you should store somewhere cool, not cold, but at a stable temperature.

might be a bit chilly in there but i'm sure they'll be OK, after all probably wont be there too long........
