Just in the middle of making an IPA and am boiling hops to add to the kit. I then plan to dry hop towards the end of fermentation. Was just wondering the best way to store these hops until then? there is also the other half of the packet which i will need to store until another brew.

Thanks.

Put them in an airtight freezer bag then put that bag back in the foil packet they came in, then put them in the freezer. That stops the air and the light getting to them, plus you can identify which hops are which if you have a few different types.

If you had plenty of hops stored in one pack in the freezer would the temperature abuse of defrosting and re-freezing them across several brews cause a problem? In that case I guess they have to be stored in useable portions rather than in bulk.

What would be the shelf life of hops stored in the fridge?
