I know where Apinta is coming from with this. I think it is a bit of an ocd aesthetic thing. I always have the overwhelming urge to rinse out djs etc to get rid of the 'soap'. Not necessary. )

I didn't want to drill my FV so cut the tube off the tap at the point shown, i push it into the end of my syphon tube once i get the flow started.

The bucket clip below works on a FV or DJ and helps keep everything steady.

why did you cut it off when you can just pull it off

When i pulled it off the tap the thicker part of the tube was still attached this was too thick to go into my syphon tube so i cut it at the point shown, you can still reach the bottom of a 750cl wine bottle comfortably.

Like many have said 'dont fear the foam'. I'd rather a layer of this stuff on equipment than tap water any day

I'm using star San for the first time today. I am going to purchase a 5 litre bottle of water and add 10ml. I'm also going to purchase a spray bottle and fill that up as well. The last stuff I used to sterilise my kit nearly gave me an asthma attack which was called sodium metabisulphite.
My new beer kit arrived yesterday (EVIL DOG) which I'm putting on today.
