What's the procedure with a big dry hop schedule?
Very rarely dry hop with over 100g of hops.
Recently made a punk clone that had 320g of dry hops! I decided to use a small biab bag to hop.
Lifting this out the fv and squeezing all the beer out was a bit of a drama.
Had flash backs of all the threads I've read about pressure transfers oxidisation etc..
The 'punk' came out nice. Definitely not a clone and sure is suffering from oxidisation and is cloudy(to wasn't before I squeezed).
Any help on how I can do this better??

Big dry hop additions are greedy, they soak up a lot of your beer. That’s the down side, I normally just throw hop pellets in lose.Cold crash takes the hops out of the beer. That’s just the price to pay for an in your face hop beer.

Yea because I used the bag as well it held a ton! Bubbles and froth everywhere 🤣😅
Do you use a Syphon or tap? Can see that being a problem..

I like a hoppy beer now and then but not to the point were i need to brew them, i just brew bitters pale ale and the like good old fashioned english beer, but i love a duval tripple and the like i just buy them, when i do dry hop i just chuck em in

anyone serious about their brewing and also who likes hoppy beer there is a book called the new IPA by Scott Janish. I would highly recommend it, it has changed my process quite a bit after reading it. In terms of dry hopping, experiments show 8-10g per litre is pretty much the sweet spot in terms of extraction. Doubling the amount doesnt double the aroma/flavour most commercial breweries will do multiple dry hop additions which is better than massive amount all at once this what all these DDH beers basically refer to.

320g I am assuming in 20l batch is double what I would recommend and basically just wasting hops. I also wouldnt be squeezing the bag. The issue with a bag and this amount of hops is once in contact with the beer they will expand so you will probably find in the middle of all those hops probably had limited contact with the beer.

Yes, I was listening to a Beersmith podcast on IPA and hops and the chap on there was saying a similar thing. Less is surprisingly more. Because more is just more with no real benefits.
Thanks for the book recommendation 🍻

I used a 15l bag and gave a gentle stir to try and get good contact.
Fully agree though. It was no more hoppy than my normal 100g dry hops.
I'm not mad on mega hoppy beers but would be nice to get the style right👍
I work in a brewery and was chatting to the head brewer about ipa's. He recommended the same book👍
