Hi,

A really simple couple of questions I am afraid! I have picked up a light and dark spray malt and plan to use these in my next lot of brews. They will be going into a kit (lager and stout) do I simply use the 500g of spray malt and another 500g of brewing sugar?

Do they really make they much difference?

Thanks

Yeah you will notice a significant increase in body and flavour. Use them with 500g sugar which basically makes it up to 1kg enhancer. I would personally use them alongside 1kg enhancer for increased abv and body :)

How much stronger would another kilo of fermentable make the standard brew? Would it enhance the feel and aftertaste of the beer?

I prefer to brew for session drinking, rather than drunk drinking, but if it's going to improve the taste and feel beyond that normally achieved with brew enhancer or two can kits I'm open to try it :D

too much sugar will decrease the quality of your beer while increasing the ABV % i would stick to 500g of malt (light for the lager) and only 500g of dextrose (brewing sugar) if you want more % then add more malt , 1/3 sugar 2/3 malt if your wanting strong beer , malt will add body and mouth feel as well as Abv while sugar thins it out a little while increasing abv so a some of both is often best (unless you like malty beer like i do then just use malt and no sugar like 1kg of malt ) :thumb:

Great thanks for your help chaps! Start a new job on Wednesday but before then I plan to get 23litres of lager, 23litres of stout and some WOW variations on the go. Not to mention 6 gallon of various TC's,wine and ginger beer to rack. Think I will e best doing these when the wife is at work on Monday and Tuesday!
