just had a idea for a sparge sprinkler i found a fire sprinkler head this is the kind found in most cellings every where you look 1/2" thread i think this can be altered for a sparge sprinkler with not much work i cant put a photo or like as im at work and i cant copy and paste computer wont allow if you put FIRE SPRINKLER HEAD in ebay i know there not shiney but there cheap

I think you will find they need a certain amount of pressure to work. Im not saying they wont work just that you might not get decent results relying on gravity alone. a pump might work though

You might be able to rip off the design though and the way it spreads the water out? Make a low pressure version like.

You're no fun at all V , whats wrong with burning down a house to get the sparge right ? We have to make sacrifices to get perfection !  ;)

what i was thinking was remove all the gubbings you get a 1/4" hole straight through put a peice of 8mm copper to let the water run straingh on to spray head you dont need presure i works a bit like eskimobobs spray wort aerator

The temperature rating for those tipes of sprinklers is indeed the external temperature required to activate them.

The activation is a one time affair though. Theres a small glass vial that keeps the valve in the closed position. Inside the vial is a liquid which boils at a certain temperature. Once the pressure inside the vial builds up from the liquid boiling the glass breaks and the valve opens. Water will continue to spray out until it's switched off.

This wouldn't matter for your purposes you can just get rid of the glass vial. As mentioned above though I don't think gravity alone would give enough force for the water to sprinkle out.
