Hi all,

I have read somewhere that soda stream cylinders can be used to inject co2 into pressure barrels, is there anybody here using this method and is it easy and what do I need.

TIA

Yes you can, you can buy an s30 adapter that screws onto the sodastream bottle. Search ebay for them. Apparently they only work on newer style sodastream bottles.

I've done it. It keeps the PB topped up if necessary, though I usually manage to get through most of a PB by priming without needing extra gas.
Quick tip: cut yourself a small slice of silicone tubing to sit in the bottom of the S30 nipple apperture so that the sodastream adapter can seal against it end on, rather than relying on the black o-ring. It works a treat to stop gas escaping unwanted.

THen invest in a CO2 big cylinder and the device to fill your own sodastream bottles, you'll soon get your money back. Or just ditch the whole sodastream idea and take the connector out of the top of the PB and put a universal post on it then you can inject gas or liquid ( finings etc ).

Hi Room with a brew, what is a universal post?

Just thought I'd mention that Sodastream web site have a massive offer on at the moment - £50 for the machine, gas and one plastic bottle or £70 with 4 bottles and 2 bottles of syrup. Sodastream
If you haven't already got a Sodastream gas cylinder, then it's maybe worth getting the machine as well at those prices.

I will use it to make tonic for G&T and also to have the CO2 bottle as a temporary backup for when my 6.25 Kg CO2 cylinder runs out and needs refilling. Then I can refill the sodastream CO2 back from the big cylinder.
