Hi People.
I have a question regarding bottling my first of two beers? I have just transferred my first brew from my main fermenter to a secondary one with a tap to bottle however as the brew drained to the bottom i noticed on the side, as the brew went down what looked like a very very small nat (Fly). I can not confirm if it is but don't want to bottle if it is. Advice please (should i pour it all away?)

A little fruit fly or something? I wouldn't worry about it. Won't do anyone any harm. I'd maybe fish it out for cosmetic reasons, but it wouldn't stop me drinking it.

bottle it and drink it quickly, you may be lucky, I have lost a brew or two to fruit flies

Yep that's it and about that size to. Might just carry on then and call the first one Nat's P#$e lol

This is very serious,
Get yourself a USB microscope and make a formal ID of the object.

IF its a fly, wave an admonishing finger at it and say, "you naughty Fly" Then bottle and drink the beer

If its not a fly, then just bottle and drink the beer

Ontor

youve got to ask yourself, now did it wipe its bottom before it went in. or not.?
its russian roulette with fruit flies I'm afraid. All you can do is carry on and keep your fingers

FWIW, not so long ago, I consumed a bottle of homebrew, and very good it was. I rinse out the bottlke straight away to avoid the sediment caking up the bottom. Next time I look there were some black spots at the bottom, must have been something in there before bottling. Anyway, I live to tell the tale!
