We used to do our monthly shop online but when they stopped bagging it we stopped as those trays are a total pain, the only place round here that bags shopping is Iceland so we do the main part of our monthly shop there and get it delivered and we go to Tesco for the rest.
We used to use Asda but as people above have said they have gone downhill over the years.

Did they used to leave the trays or wait for you to unpack then?

Never done online - just asking.

While I am here then... Does it work out cheaper?

Morrisons orders come in bags, and take them back when you next order

No you have to empty them and give them back if your kitchen is a distance from the front door it's a ball ache.

I am not sure she does the order it saves me a 16 mile round trip and having to wait for swmbo to get back to the car.

We get a weekly big shop delivered from Tesco, I'm generally the only one who deals with getting it all in (my lad does help but he's not always quite on the ball) so I feel your pain!

More often than not I'll just get the driver to leave the crates at the door and I'll bring in armloads and dump it on the living room floor to sort out when it's all brought in.

It's a fairly quick and efficient method, but not the best when there's something like a loaf of bread in the first crate and half a dozen bottles of pop in the next, squashed food is rarely well received :laugh8:

A human being at a till for me as nearly every time I used the self service I’ve had a “trolly check” where a staff member comes and rifles through your just pack bags to check you’ve not slipped in a block of cheese for free.
I was persuaded by my eldest to use the scan as you go thing when we went to do the Christmas shop in Tesco (wife was floored with flu 😡)
Spent an hour filling a trolly and went to the alcohol isle and picked some good wines some spirits and a few cans of vault city sour beers. Scanned everything making sure it all went on the scanner, daughter works for Tesco and they got 20% discount for a week at Christmas and it shows the price you pay as you go around so the beers were 4 for 3 and I remarked how cheap they were after discount
Got to the till and the scanner showed up a trolley check. Nice lady did it and it showed a can of the vault city wasn’t scanned. So she had to do a full rescan. £230 worth of goods.
No problem. Bit if a pain but not her fault.
Full shop scanned again. Shows 4 cans of vault city not scanned !!
Feeling like I’m being judged as “one of those “ she goes to synch the scanner with the till and it shuts down ! When it reboots it says full rescan required ! I nearly lost the plot
An hour after trying to pay I’m still there😡
She was nice about it and called a supervisor who opened a till and scanned the shop through quickly for me.
If it wasn’t 20% off I would have left it all sitting and walked out.
It will be a person scanning my shopping in future as I suspect after flagging it once I will be stopped every time in future with the self scan.

Must be something about Asda. I also vowed never to return to our local one, it's not the greatest anyway.

Apparently that day there was something up with the scan as you go system so everyone had to use the tills. Given it's a sizeable store there are about 3 manned checkouts, the rest is self scan, there were big queues for all. We had a fair bit of stuff.

Finally got to the self scan checkout, selected "I have my own bags", put bags on scale, "Someone will need to verify your bags..." 😠

Eventually got someone but then it kept complaining about unexpected items and so on. Must have taken a good 10 minutes to checkout and of course also needed booze authorisation. I would have walked out by this stage, it was only as the wife and kids were also with us that we kept going.

Since they built a Lidl round the corner from us it is now our main shop and they have it nailed. No self scan at all, if there are queues staring to build more checkouts get opened. It's quick to get through the checkout provided everyone plays by the rules of bagging your shopping after checking out. So much better.

The only other one I'll tolerate is the Tesco, scan and pack with the barcode gun as you're going around. I tried the Sainsburys one once where you use an app on your phone but gave up after about 5 mins as it really didn't seem to work well.

Good that there might be some movement back towards normal checkouts.
Well, we got 2 Lidls, one with self-checkout and 3 Aldis, all with self-checkout - I love Lidl/Aldi for shopping - I'm biased of course.

hand scan or the staffed till. Not Self Checkout.

I have a bad back and the process of scanning - Bend , lift item, Scan, wait for it to be accepted and then bend to place in bag - leads to chronic pain.

We can only get home delivery from Asda. No others deliver to our area

We have given up on supermarkets that no longer bag the shopping i wouldn't mind paying a few pence for the bags but we don't get the option, we are going to give Morrisons a try.

I get mine from Tesco's and it's never bagged, but I just take the crate in to the kitchen and unpack it on the counter and take the crate back out, pick up next crate and repeat.
You telling me you are handballing all your shopping in from the door step?
Seriously?

I have got better things to do with my life than use a self scan machine which slowly does your head in and you loose the will to live , we use Lidls ,i take the shopping as it is scanned and put it on the counter behind ,and my partner packs it ,works a treat.
