mmm looks like another brew to put on me list mmmmmm how mutch water was in mash and how many ltrs did you sparge to :thumb:
 
Tiny little update....

Just put this into my spare corny but had a sly snifter as I was putting the overspill into bottles. It's quite bitter and there's quite a bit of flavour in there too. I hope it doesn't fade too much over time.
It's certainly the tastiest brew I've done for a long while. I think I'll be doing this one again, I might have to back off a little on the bittering a little but time will tell :D

Just finished the last bottle that was left over from filling the corny.

This is maturing nicely into one really tasty brew. The bitterness isn't as sharp as before and the after taste really lingers like a good un. I think I'll still back the bittering off a little but I'll definitely be doing this again.
Next time I'll move the 45 min additions to 20 mins. Should back off just enough on the bittering and give a little boost to the flavour. To be honest though, I'm happy enough with the flavour as if is :D

Nice one Tom, this is on my to do list also, I was thinking about using WLP001, did you double up on the Notty in the end ?

Yeah, I used 2 sachets of Nottingham. Only because that's what Sara used when she put this together. I did have my doubts about it but it's turned out really well :D

i did mine on 24 november it was going like a train last night it was drop down to 18 deg c i am well looking forward to this brew :D :D :thumb:
 
I brewed this recipe of Sarah's in May. It was the first AG i have ever done. It does change a fair bit. If i remember it tasted amazing straight off but then after about two or three weeks in the bottle the hop aroma seemed to dissipate. It then changed again and the hops and bitterness balanced out really nicely. It is very close to Jaipur which is why i made it. There are still some bottles out in the backhouse, hidden from 23 yr old son. They taste amazing. Yeah i put two packets of Notts in.

Another 5 gallons of this on the go but only used 1 sachet of Nottingham this time. I also moved the 45 min additions to the 20 min mark to back off a bit on the bittering and ( hopefully ) up the flavours a bit.
I've had to order some more Chinook and Centennial though as this will be a regular brew I think :D

Good to hear your beer turned out good Tom.I am brewing up another batch of this for my mate on Saturday who loves this ale and drank most of my batch :eek: .I used northern brewer instead of chinook and I am wondering what difference in taste the chinook would give
as I don't want to change this recipe too much as it came out superb.
