Sainsbury's Basics Water Mineral Analysis

Yesterday I entered a ticket on the Sainsbury's website asking for the mineral analysis of the basics water and got this reply today:

All values in mg/l

Calcium: 54
Magnesium: 20
Potassium: 4
Sodium: 68
Bicarbonate: 300
Chloride: 98
Fluoride: 0.2
Sulphate: 22
Nitrates: <1
PH at source: 7.7
Dry residue at 180C: 420 and this varies throughout the year

Hope this helps people with their water profile adjustments.

the chloride is high compared to other bottled water profiles :hmm:

The basics water is 'definitely not from the tap' according to the label. It's from an unidentified spring in Yorkshire.

I'd agree with that. I've played around with Beersmith's water profile calculator and it's good for darker, malty beers as-is or with just a few grams of gypsum but for the pale hoppy styles it can't calculate the additions to get close. Eden Falls seems to be the best base profile for pale and hoppy.

I presume it's naturally occurring fluoride rather than the **** they dump in water? No idea about the Chloride though.

I actually think it's this, based on the description in the photo being a direct copy-paste from the Shepley Spring website home page. Thing is, the mineral analysis on Shepley Spring is totally different to the one they sent me. Hmm, wonder if they've changed supplier over the years?
