I am gradually upgrading my brewing system, so looking at various things at the moment.

RIMS - does that mean Recirculating-Insulated-Mashing-System??

Can someone give me a brief explanation of how this works?
Is the wort recirulated back through the mash??
How do I sparge?......Do I sparge?
How is the temperature of the mash maintained? Or does recirculation take place after the mash conversion is complete?

Thanks in advance.

Thats good site MD, been having a good read of it this afternoon and getting dangerous ideas :D

The difference between rims and herms being how they apply the heat. Phil's website seems to be undergoing some changes since I last recommended it, but no doubt it will soon regain the title of one of the most comprehensive British web efforts on the subject.
