Removing smells from FV

How can you easily remove smells from the FV after it's been used?

Basically my wilko plastic FV smells of beer even after it's been gently cleaned an left airing for a week.

Here's how I clean it after I'm done brewing:
I use a bottle brush to remove the crud that gets stuck to it.
I then use a dish cloth and warm soapy water and gently clean the FV
Then rinse a few times and leave to drip dry and well ventilated.

Well today I went to inspect it, as I need it for the weekend and it had a beery smell to it still.
So I have just given it a clean with sterilising fluid and a gentle wash around with a dish cloth again. Did this for around 10 mins making sure i did not miss anything and gave it a good shake a few times as well.

Am I being paranoid or is everything OK?

Be careful with a bottle brush its very abrasive and can cause hairline scratches in your FV.

FVs can has some smells as long as they are clean they should be okay.

My fv always smells after a brew. As soon as I start the next one I pour in about 2 litres of Star San solution. Every twenty minutes or so I give it a good shake. By the time the brew is ready to go in to it, all smells have disappeared. I never use a brush on the inside of it - as soon as I have bottled from it I hose it out, wipe off any krausen rings with a cloth, hose it again and then put the lid on until I need it again.

Will lay off the bottle brush, I don't use it as a scrubber but to gently remove some stuck bits.

I use Milton as my steriliser.

Just wanted to make sure it was all ok was all :)

Iv found the same problem! But gave up months ago, and my brews have been ok

yep same here, my FV always smells of beer. But since I'm brewing beer in it I don't mind the smell!
