Remember the Beast from the East?

12 months ago we were freezing today we are experiencing unbelievably warm weather some pictures comparing the two below -

It's hard to believe that a year ago Britain was about to endure the worst of the so-called Beast from the East, with widespread snow and sub-zero temperatures.

Fast forward 12 months and this record February warmth shows just how varied the UK weather can be.

The reason temperatures have been so high is the direction our air is coming from.

High pressure parked to the south east of the British Isles has been dragging warm air from Africa and the Canary Islands our way.

Temperatures are further boosted by something known as the foehn effect, when air warms as it flows down the lee side of mountains.

All of this combined with the sunshine has produced something quite remarkable for February.

Yeah remember it well, I was delivering mail in it.
Worn shorts at work for 22 years, never owned any pants and last year nearly broke me.

You know you can bank on me. Those climate-change crazees will be all over this, but unfortunately for them it's not a symptom, but a result of long-fetch southerlies and other factors coinciding perfectly . I can't recall them banging on about CC this time last year and well into March when we were buried in snow, but no doubt some of them will have. When the weather returns to normal after this unseasonal mild spell, will that be considered climate change too?

I agree Clint, remember the old saying -
'Ne'er cast a clout till May be out'
its been in use since at least the 18th century.

A clout is an old word for a piece of clothing.
Some people think 'May' refers to the month but others take it to mean the May flower or hawthorn.

I picked my new company car up from Leeds this time last year and there was a foot of snow on the roof, I then had to drive to Boston(Linc's), I got there at 16:00 and it was bucketing it down with snow so started to drive home, the next two days I couldn't get onto the road as my quarter mile driveway was a foot deep in snow due to it drifting off the fields, at least this year we have a 4x4.

This years warm weather is absolute proof of global warming. Last years cold was an expected anomaly in a general pattern of warming, so also absolute proof

So they can accurately predict the next 1000,000 years i guess i will not get our lass to panic buy all the kits in our local Range store.
