Received some Archer hops to try today. I'm going to start off by doing a smash beer to get a sense of the flavor.

Anybody have any experience with these hops here?

Yep, I've used them. They're a good hop but a million miles from the US aroma hop profile. They make a great bittering hop and you need to go easy with the late additions otherwise they can be grassy. Aim for subtlety rather than hops-in-your-face, so a 15 minute addition and a smallish flameout addition with a rich-ish malt profile would by my recommendation. So a nice, easy-drinking, English bitter is what we're probably looking at.
They go great with Jester as a late hop, too.

I appreciate it thanks! I'll definitely keep that in mind.

I did a SMASH with Archer to get a feel for the flavour. Nice hop and quite underrated I feel.
Good to know I'm hoping it will make a great smash beer. I was intrigued by its profile so I went for it.

Edit: Also your recipe looks pretty tasty maybe I'll incorporate some Fuggles or Jester for bittering.

So here is what I'm thinking this is a recipe I found in one of my magazines.

20L batch

3.7kg 2-row pale malt (I'll use maris otter)
230g amber malt
35g of Archer @ 60 min
45g of Archer @ 5 min
45g of Archer @ flameout

Mash at 66°C for 60 min

With the advice above I'll probably shift the 5 minute addition to 15 minutes then half the flameout addition and use it for the last 5 minutes.

Wyeast 1968?

Should I add any crystal 20L or wheat as well as some #1 invert?

If it were me, I'd be inclined to increase the 60 minute charge and halve both the late additions. Bringing the 5 minute charge forward to 15 minutes is a good idea. But that's just me. Go with your own vision on this one.

Keeping it as a SMaSH is a good idea to get a feeling for the hops.

Used them in an English Bitter and it was excellent. Gives a nice mild peachy flavour. I'd use something neutral for bittering and save the Archer for late in the boil.
