Anyone tried using sugarcubes to prime bottles?
Seems like an easy way to get an equal measured amount into each bottle and they fit down the neck OK. Not tried it but think I might give it a go for my next bottling session. Easier than faffing about with spoonfuls of sugar.

The cube ought to dissolve pretty easily in warm beer I would have thought. Even if not the yeast should take care of it. One way to find out...! Will give it a bash with a few bottles in next batch.

I reckon it will dissolve fine as it will have plenty of time to. I've not found sugar cubes that fit in me bottles tho!

you would be better to use coopers carbonation drops.

They look like boiled sweets about the same size as a sugar cube, but are glucose.

If you use sugar cubes, the yeast will need to convert to glucose and fructose before it started to ferment it and create the priming CO2, therefore would take longer and is not as reliable as priming with glucose, which is a readily fermentable.

Most HB shops sell coopers carbonation drops, I think the dose is 1/2 per pint bottle for ale and a full one for lagers

Why put the sugar in a bottle? I used to add the priming sugar to all the beer just before bottling. That way, you get an even distribution of sugar in the brew.
