I’m quite partial to a pickled egg ! I always make a jar for Boxing Day lunch !

I love pickled eggs! Another on the list...I got a few small onion off the plot to pickle too. Bought a load of vinegar earlier and hunted out the Kilner jars.
 
Dont mind a pickled egg at all. Like to eat them the traditional way which involves eating most of a bag of cheese and onion crisps, smashing up the remaining crisps in the bag and then shaking the egg around in the bag to give it a nice savoury coating.
 
Oh I love them too... In my youth, I would eat plenty down the pub. I have been known to buy a big jar at the cash n carry... Gone within a week... lovely
 
Having chickens, I eat them as it's a good way to loose a few from the egg basket.

Its a healthy snack!
 
Grew up on a small farm, and pickling eggs was often used as a way of preserving them when we had a glut. We used to use malt, rather than clear distilled pickling, vinegar as it was much cheaper in bulk, so the eggs would take on a brown tinge. Still tasted lovely. Haven't had one in ages, perhaps I'll buy a jar for old times sake.
 
Has anyone already read on the beeb site how bad pickled eggs are? I mean, they're spoiling anything anyway so it's time they should give anything pickled a bad name.
 
Love 'em. When we lived up in Scotland, we kept chickens and there was always a jar of home-pickled eggs in the house.

BTW one for Easter:
  • Boil some eggs.
  • Tap them with the back of a teaspoon so that the shells crack all over.
  • Drop them into a pan of boiled water containing strong tea or edible colouring.
  • Let them cool slowly.
  • Peel and serve.
When peeled, the eggs will have an intricate pattern of coloured "cracks" on their surface.

They were a hit with the kids at Easter! athumb..
 
Pickled egg, cheese and salad cream sarnie.
At least once a fortnight :)
Pickling spice, peppercorns, couple of dried chillis, sea salt and vinegar. I make 'em all the time as the missus refuses to LOL
