I'm about to order some ingredients to put together an IPA recipe. I'll be using malt extract as opposed to full grain. I've got the choice of pellets or full flower hops (mosaic). Any benefits of one vs the other? If you use full flower is it worth using a bag? I was planning on using 100g.

Any thoughts welcome.

From my very limited experience Ive only ever used pellets.
The last brew I did was Wilkos cerveza with Cali common yeast 25g Mosaic tea and 25g dry hop. I did 10 days ferm 2 days dry hop and 2 days cold crash. I have a plastic mesh cage on the end of my syphon...

The trub (Inc hop dust) was well settled to the bottom of my FV but with the cages u can sit it just above the trub with no issues as long as ur careful and don't slosh it about! A syphon clip and washing peg combo work wonders!

There have been several studies on this and (spoiler alert) the result is that there’s no appreciable difference.

...but I use leaf hops all the time because I think they’re better!! 😂
Cheers chap, kinda what I figured, but good to know. Do you introduce both into the brew in the same way?

Yes you do - though if you dry hop, some people prefer to put the leaf hops in a net bag with some weights (eg spoons) and sink them. I just throw them in - again studies have shown no appreciable difference and actually suggest one day is as good as five - I still use five! 🤷‍♂️

Grand job. I think I'd sooner 5 days than 1, simply on principle that I'm not into rushing😁

I chuck my hops into the boil and let them do their goodness. I like to have some leaf hops in there to provide a filter for the pellet fragments (if I've used them) and the trub. Can't get on with this whirlpool silliness, which involves chucking loads of beer away at the end.

Definitely with you on the chucking away of beer!!! Thanks for the advice.
