They are maming headline new which is exactly what they want and no one forced the kid to speak out or the news channels to broadcast it.

I would like someone to answer the thought that everything changes including the world so why does the establishment on this seem to think that change is bad?

The world has always gone through heating and cooling cycles. The UK especially in the north is still in recession from the last ice age from 10,000 years ago...an event no one remembers. Just as no one remembers the time before the ice age when it was probably tropical....we could easily revert to an ice age in as little as a couple of hundred years. I wonder what would be made if that? I know...those with lots of money would move to warmer climes...those who chose to stay and could afford to would have the gas fire on all day.

Homebrew is less gassy than keg or commercial bottled beers (well, mine is anyway), which means that drinkers of it are less flatulent, resulting in less harmful methane being released into the atmosphere. All homebrewers are therefore effective climate change activists, and I can't imagine why schoolchildren aren't taught that. The BBC could help by encouraging homebrewing on Blue Peter. Until then we'll just have to save the planet without them. I don't mind doing my bit.

Even those who don't believe that we are heading for meltdown or the opposite in the very near future do agree global warming is happening so even if its not happening as fast as the scientists predict why don't we change the way we live now rather than wait until it is too late?

Did you factor in the chicken vindaloo that went with the homebrew? :laugh8::laugh8::laugh8:
And... what about the extra gas from a veggie diet?
Cheers

There's a good point...tree huggers go on about not eating meat etc but a cabbage based diet must cause tons of fart gas...

Haha don't fancy hanging out at one of their meetings, the air in the village hall would be toxicsick...

Well, clearly change does not have to be bad. It can indeed be a good thing, or possibly neutral. But the sort of change that I think we're in for will totally change the planet. I expect climatic changes to ruin the ability of the planet to sustain mankind's present numbers, or even close. Is that bad? Well, if the human population is going to shrink, be it by starvation or war, then it doesn't sound too pleasant!

Global warming scenarios are ALWAYS 'in the future'.
Well, I had to weigh this one up carefully. It does sound a bit odd doesn't it?
But, thinking about it, maybe not so much. After all, the most inaccurate weather forecasts are in the future. But, asked to predict the weather in the next 30secs I think my old Uncle Albert would get it right most of the time. Tomorrow? Well, I'd ditch Albert and place my bet with the Met Office meteorologists.
But, hey, their weather scenarios are always in the future as well.......

I admire your persistence. I'm afraid that I can't find the motivation to argue with people who cannot (won't) see what is plainly in front of their faces. Flat-earthers indeed. What does grind my gears a bit is this dismissing of people who care about the future of our planet, future generations and - dare I say it - other species who share this planet with us as 'tree-huggers'.

There's a native American proverb which goes something like "We don't inherit the earth from our parents, we borrow it from our children".

Whether AGW is real or not I think that's a better mantra than "I'll do what I like now and to hell with future generations".

The cartoon someone posted a few pages ago summed it up beautifully, if we're wrong but still make the world a better place then I'm OK with that.

Spot on.

I think we are going to big changes over the next few years, out council recently announced a closed bin lid policy basically they will no longer take bags of rubbish piled on top of the bin or left next to it forcing people to recycle more, they introduced recycling a couple of years ago but found the weights of grey rubbish didn't drop as expected they also did a survey of side waste over a few months and found 75% of it was recyclable, our council is ahead of most as our rubbish doesn't go to landfill it goes to a reprocessing plant but they have to pay them to take it whereas the recycling plant pays the council for the already sorted recycling.

For sure... but what has global warming got to do with any of that? Talk about blurring the lines to kinda semi justify their aims! As those ER types keep saying, why not tell the truth instead of inventing fanciful tales of woe? Notice how they never have anything positive whatsoever to say about a warmer world, which would be 'better' than a colder one or even as it is now. There's the giveaway for these charlatans. Anyways, bored of it all now. Even though I know damn well I'm right and fully comfortable with that, I know I'm on a hiding to nothing cos the crazees have got the upper hand and I can't help but be carried along, though I have no intention whatsover of 'doing my bit'. Bet that's how a EU remainer feels right now.

Interesting philosophical angle on climate change, Justin. Change, in itself, is inevitable and neither good nor bad. We perceive something as bad which threatens our well-being so as continued climate change threatens human existence, we would consider that a bad thing. It would probably be a good thing for the planet though, as it would give the biosphere time to regulate and repopulate itself without further human intervention.

Global warming or not, when your tap water isn't cool enough to chill your wort to pitching temperature then we've got a problem.
