Hello there

Having dreamed of producing my own 'poison' for years, I have finally made the splash and started my first cider batch. However, spending time here in the forum has scared me a little. My plan was to transfer the cider after fermentation from the fermenter to the pressure barrel openly through a funnel with a sive to filter out much of the sediment that might come with it. I am not saying that I intend to let the cider cascade down 3 feet into the funnel. The keg would be directly under the fermenter. But I am having doubts now because a few posts are speaking of avoiding splashing and introducing oxygen into the cider, which wouldn't be entirely excluded, I guess. Therefore, my question is
  • Is my described method nonsense and I am better off using a syphon?
Many thanks for any help

I allways transfer using a syphon,Helps to avoid transfering the sediment.
BTW it is nearly imposible to filter out the sediment,The "filter" will clog solid in seconds.
