Hi,

Only took up homebrew early part of this year. Always held fermentation at 20 degrees for the ale and once bulk primed I would leave my bottles for a further 2 weeks and then move to my garage to 'clear'. Seemed to work perfect.

Now the Summer is here what do I do? I've got 40 bottles of Ruby Red that has been through secondary and the only place i can really store them is my garage whcih is now approx 23 degrees. Will my bottles still clear?

Thanks.

They should clear but it will take a lot longer. You will probably have to stick them in the fridge a batch at a time for a while when you are ready to drink them. That should help.

I imagine most here are in the same boat; I am. Kits tend to be slower clearing anyway, but my AG brews have cleared perfectly in my shed which is at the mercy of the weather. Either way, if you've got nowhere else you have to go with it! Maybe keep a few in the fridge for a while and compare clearing/taste etc to the garage batch.

Good idea. I might put 10 or so at a time in the fridge for a week and see if it helps clear. Won't be drinking for a while though.

Bottled some Beaverdale Pinot last week that I started on the 23rd May...if my beer ever looks as clear as that does I'll be laughing!

The darkest corner of my garage is well below the ambient temperature outside, and also in the house. The keg I stuck out there two weeks ago is just starting to clear - it is a top tap King Keg though, so don't know what it's like at the bottom.

The bottles in my 2nd hand fridge off EBay (£10) are clearing beautifully!!!

My recent experience is that my bottles clear faster in the warm than in the fridge after carbonation. As you are planning to stick 10 at a time in the fridge would you mind doing a compare between fridge and non-fridge and reporting back ? It would be good to get confirmation or otherwise. I'd do it myself but all my brews are either carbonating or already cleared.

Yep, I can do that.
