Treated myself to a Brewzilla Gen 4 which has just arrived, don't want to work for the rest of the afternoon now 🤣

This seems a much improved version which will be easier to maintain and modify, full credit to the manufacturer for this quality at this price point. I only use my brewzilla as a sparge water heater now but I'd be very tempted by this if I hadn't scaled up.

First brew with it today and definitely lessons to be learned, first and foremost to check the bottom screen on the malt pipe before mashing in, it wasn't on properly and now I have grain in my boil and a very slow running pump 🙈

Managed to unblock the pump by turning it off and blowing down it.

Important: This is not advice to follow my stupidity by blowing through the pump with a kettle full of boiling wort ... But it did work 🤣

Sorely tempted by this. But my gen 3.1 is only a couple of years old and still doing the business for me..

You can also attach a hose/tube into the pump and blasting it with water

My old equipment was a peco boiler that I bought as part of a starter kit from the home brew company years ago just to see if I enjoyed all grain brewing, the plan was to upgrade it if I kept it up but it worked perfectly so I kept it and upgraded other parts of my equipment first (fermentation chamber, kegerator etc). I did use the rapt portal a few times today to keep an eye on the temperature but I don't know if it would be worth upgrading from a 3.1 just for that

I had read that but I was already boiling so didn't want to blast water into the brew, blowing down it was more in hope than anything else so that I could use the pump to empty it into the fermentor when finished 😁

Ah, yes. Mid brew that would be bad. Handy cleaning tip
