my first coopers stout kit any tips.
i also got 500g of dark spray malt and 500g of brewing sugar. any tips

Biggest tip is to dechlorinate your water ;)
This'll help overcome the worst of the "home brew" flavours.
You can either use a water filter, or stir half a crushed campden tablet (or half a tsp of sodium metabisulphite powder) into your water. This will neutralise the chlorine and chloramines in your tap water.
Another alternative is to use cheap mineral water from the supermarket as a replacement for tap water.

Use your dark malt extract and brewing sugar in a 50:50 mix as a direct replacement for the sugar called for in the instructions.
Dissolve the malt extract in cold water and slowly dissolve dissolve the sugar as you bring the liquid to the boil.

Good luck with it

Coopers stout was my second kit and I used the 50/50 mix and it makes a tasty pint :thumb:

I would treat the water though this time round if I was ever to do it again :D
