my beer kit won't stop fermenting

I bought a Wherryreal ale kit to start my first ever brew and almost 4 weeks later its still pushing bubbles through the airlock.
The directions say 4_6 days but even though there are 4 mins between clubs its still going.
Should I continue? After all its sealed in the brew bucket.
I did taste it last week and it is very very nice.
Can someone please advise?Thanks, Tony
 
If it's still bubbling (albeit very slowly) it is still fermenting. It won't do any harm at all to leave it. Have you got a hydrometer? Welcome to HBF by the way!
 
First thing to do is take a hydrometer reading and report back the results. I may just be a very slow fermentation

Did you take a gravity reading when you made the kit up?

I think you need to check it with a hydrometer. About 4 quid from Wilko or big Tesco or Tesco online or home brew shop.

Then get straight into all grain brewing. Cheaper, better, beer, all your own work! :-)

I recently did an all grain kit for a stout that was in the FV for nearly 2 months and that came out fine. So don't worry.
 
I'm a kit brewer and loving it. Got 2 cornies which I'm still setting up and just bought 2 more. Would love to do grain brewing but worried about the cost of the kit and time and storage involved.
 
If you follow clibit's recipe for simple all grain beer, you don't need any special kit apart from a large pot (or you can split the liquid for the boil between two smaller pots). I just did my first batch and I think I might be hooked! I only wandered into the beer recipe section for a browse, normally I make wine, but I've already planned my next 4 batches of all grain beer and I'm planning a new shed just for brewing.

Thanks a million guys and I can confirm the reading at the start was 1.04 and its currently 1.02.
I don't think I can offer anyone a 2% beer can I?
From what your all saying I think I should sit back and keep an eye.
At the moment the glugs are 4 mins apart.

Yeah just leave alone a while, I leave mine about two weeks then check the gravity.
 
A lot of members suggested a hydrometer but although helpful no one really offered any guidance even though I did supply the reading at the start of the brew and yesterday.
Maybe I am in the wrong forum?
Any ideas guys?

What temp are you running.
I try to keep mine at 20 and it's usually fermenting for 3 weeks.
Are you going to keg or bottle?
I will add I'm not the most experienced here :D

If it is at 1.020 then it's not finished. My advice is to wait until it's had two weeks in the FV and then check the gravity. You're aiming for somewhere in the 1.010 region. You want to get the same reading two days running. Some do three days.
 
My problem is most likely temp, does it matter if it takes 5 weeks to 1.00 or thereabouts?
My feeling is if the fvis sealed then it cannot spoil. What do you think Coll and Clbit?
