Motueka Pale. Too much?

Hi All

Just got a Mad Goose ( ish ) on and am planning my next brew.

Going for something easy on the palate but with a bit of a zing to it.
I'm looking at...........

Pale Malt 3600g
Caragold 400g
Torrified Wheat 250g
Motueka 100g @ 10 mins before end of boil 30 EBU
Motueka 100g @ 5 mins before end of boil 16 EBU
Yeast Malt Miller's West Coast Style
Mashing at around 68/9c for a bit more body/mouthfeel.

Got some Vienna that I might sub for the Caragold but not sure yet, got some Bombay IPA's to do so will need Vienna for them :cheers:


Soooooo, too much Motueka? Thanks Critch ;) . Not used them before so unsure how far to take them.

Even though utilisation will be low, with the amount I'm using there will still be enough bittering from the short boil time. There should be a ton of flavour though :thumb:

It should come out around 46 Ibu.

I've done this before with a Cascade Smash so know it works :-)
Regarding the sweetness. Rob's West Coast yeast behaves very much like US-05 so will ferment out quite dry to balance out much of the residual sweetness from the caragold. I've used 400g in a brew before and it turned out fine :-)
I will keep my options open on this one though and won't finalise the grist quite yet.

That's interesting, I've been wanting to try this 10 min only hops. How was your cascade pale? Presumably there is a shed load of hop smell/taste. T
