My first non-kit attempt and this is what I've got ....... Any thoughts please?

125g Crystal Malt in 27 litres at 65C for 30 mins

Remove Crystal Malt and add 4Kg of LME

35g Challenger ..........15 Minutes (Boil)
30g East Kent Goldings 10 Minutes (Boil)
20g Citra ................... 5 minutes (Boil)
20g Citra ................... 0 Minutes (Boil)

Irish Moss (1 tsp)for the last 15 Minutes


Fermented at 20°C with Safale US-05
 
Hi , you want to boil for around 45 mins at least even for extract brewing so the bittering will come out the hops . Steeping you should use around 3 times the water to grain , 3 litres to 1 kg . I would increase the amount of crystal to 200/300g but that's just me . So if 300g use around 1 litre for 30 mins at 66c then empty water into boil pan and add another litre to grains , give it 10 mins then empty that into boil pan . Throw away grains .
I would only bother with around 10/15 litres of extra water into the boil pan and go do the lme with the grain water , adding more cold water in the fv to make up total of 23 litres . Adding hops at start and at middle at at 5 mins left , flame out hops if you want and also dry hop after foamy head in fv has gone down for 5 days if you want extra hop aroma punch .
You would of ended up with a sweet beer with no bittering hops , it would of been out of balance . Even sweet beers would of had more ibu that the first recipe .

This advice comes in very handy too .......... my boil pan only holds 22 litres.
 
The Revised version (a) ....... comments please.

Crystal Malt 250g in 1 litre of water at 66c for 30 mins
Add 1 litre of water and cook at 66c for another 10 mins.
Remove grain.

Add 15 litres of water, boil, take off heat and add 4kg of LME.

Bring back to boil and add hops :-

Challenger 60g ............ 1 hr
East Kent 30g.............. 30 mins
Irish Moss 1tsp ........... 15 mins
Citra 20g ..................... 5 mins

Top up to 23 litres

Citra 20g ..................... after 4-5 days
