Hi guys,

First time posting in the beer section as I'm more of a spirit/cider drinker.

As I know very very little about beer I wouldn't mind a little help impressing my other halfs dad with a John Smiths style brew. I don't have an AG set up so will have to be a kit.

Anytips on how to make it taste better ? I have seen comments on google searches about putting stuff in a hop sock and leaving that in the brew till it ferments.

All help and advice welcome.

Many thanks

Marrsy

I doubt you will get many suggestions for a John smiths recipe as in my opinion is almost as bad as drinking fosters.

If on the other hand you mean bitter or an ale which I think you may Coopers kits are my personal favourite. So do you have a particular style you want?

I'm a total beer noobie incase you haven't noticed

Is John smiths a bitter or ale ? All I know is his fav drink is John smiths so I'm trying to find something that closely replicates it :)

Cheers

Marrsy

Try a Coopers English Bitter and use beer kit enhancer instead of sugar, should be ready in 4-6 weeks once it's in the barrel and it's very good. One of my favourite kits back when I was making them.
