I've been thinking again...

@sadfield and @covrich The reason I've been thinking about this is not really to save time, in fact it probably adds a bit more time to the overall brewing process. I am aware of a couple of ways to save time and I do them with my 5L stove toppers, these being predominantly a 30 min mash/30 min boil and not doing a sparge. Using these methods I can knock out a 5L brew in 1hr 30m/40m

The main reason I've been thinking about this is because I'm probably the laziest brewer in brewing history. I want to make thing really easy for myself over a series of days. So I'm not doing a 5 hour brew day but 4-5 days of 30 mins to 2 hours. You may or may not remember my 3 day brew day thread/experiment. http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=54796
I'm now planning a 5 day brew day!

So basically you want to break down the "streches" in a day ..

Why did you give up the ON mashes? I like the idea but it does require some planning I guess.

Does the cube fill occupying all space ?

Yes. I'm basically going break down the stages of a brew (day), mash, boil, cool, pitch into several days.

I stopped overnight mashing because there was not need for me to continue doing them. I normally need to wait for Mr'sMQ to go out (at about 11am) before I can get the main part of the brewday on. That waiting time can be used to do the mash.

@brewcat Seems we cross posted. You've deleted your post thinking the duplicate would remain and I've deleted the duplicate thinking the orginal would remain

I read the post anyway. 75C I havent come across mash temps that high. When I've done overnight mashes I normally do them at 70C

I wont be using a proper cube, just an FV covered with cling film. It doesnt occupy all space but as the wort will only be in the FV cube for 24 hours it doesnt seem to cause a problem. If I was going to keep the wort for days/weeks/months I think it would definatly be advisable to use a proper cube and fill as much space as possible

Lol. i still mash at 65c but mashout at 75c for 10 mins. That's enough to pasteurise it and what i did when i made the raw Saison.
This method would be good for anyone wanting to do a split boil over 2 days, i like it.
