Brewing a Cornish Miners Ale this week but luckily I have the Grainfather Conical Fermenter with the cooling pump. Might be spending some time ferrying ice from the freezer though, oh well all part of the hobby.

It really depends on what you were intending to brew and what yeast you're using.

An English style bitter, with Wyeast 1469 - I suspect it will be OK if I can keep temperatures below about 22c, but that's probably going to need some ice-packs during the afternoon over the next couple of days, even fermenting in a relatively cool corner of the house.

Yeah, 1469 doesn’t like it hot, in my experience. You could try sitting the fermenter in a water bath and keep that topped up with ice packs. I'd get some cheap mineral water and just freeze the whole bottle(s) overnight. Some wet towels over the fermenter will help, too.

Normally i dont struggle too much with high temps, as my office is a ground floor basement. So the left and back wall is 'under ground' and my floor is a concrete base between the foundations. Generally sits at 18C all year round with minimal issues or heating required. But last night it was reading 22C and today 25C [sad face] and I will be surprised if it dips below that before the week is out.

I think for my next brew i'll get some kveik yeast and put the FV in the conservatory and let the thing bake!

How many of us have got a brew fridge or hop storage fridge with a freezer compartment going to waste. ..............

I have a 23 litre brew in the fridge cold crashing at 10*C that will be transferred to a PB in a few days.

Carbonation of the PB will be easy (it's at +/-20*C in the "cool side" of the garage) and I can use the fridge at 10*C to chill down a load of water for the next brew.

Thanks for the reminder!

My Cwtch kit carbed up in 2 day on tuesday, can I leave it at room temp for the next few days, I don't have anywhere cooler to put it but plan on building a brew fridge soon.

Work it’s kept to a steady 9 degC so my only issue is when I’m on my 4 off!

I’m sleeping in the keezer tonight...

I leave my brews to carbonate for at least two weeks so if the temperature doesn't exceed 22*C it should be okay.

At the moment I have shelves with a variety of beers and stouts in a garage that is hitting 27*C at times! Some of these brews are from last year and suffered the same temperatures; they taste just fine but they are a bit "lively" when opened!

It's supposed to be 38C down here in Canary Wharf this afternoon. At least I don't have to be in the city because that'll be even hotter and will stink as well!

The thermometer in my normally adequately insulated garage has been reading 26-28C, too, for the last few days. The beer doesn't suffer from it. Must be several hundred bottles in there, but no explosions. If I bring the beer in and cool it in the fridge for an hour or so it behaves itself nicely, too. Expecting a 10 degree drop in temperature tomorrow, and rain. Time to get more beer on, I think.

Young's yeast, first 2 days at 22º, then slowly to 25º, tomorrow off to France for holidays...

Exciting times ahead!
Splendid times indeed. Drop in for a pint on your way down, if you're passing. I think I've got a bottle or two of Camembert and andouillette cider left somewhere.

The chillers on my cask cooling jackets were struggling yesterday so I put a maxi chiller into each loop which has it sorted. I thought for ages about how it would lead to inconstant temps around the loop until it dawned on me to just put it at the end of the loop as the water goes back into the reservoir.aheadbutt

This is where I am right now. Have been for the last week, and will be for another two. At least just on the coast next to san javier.

Couldn’t work out a beer to leave fermenting in the brew fridge while I was away for 3 weeks so I’ve just got a super hoppy pale cold conditioning ready to go on tap for when I get back. Can’t wait for Saturday.

God I love the heat Now pass me another cold beer.

Time for the annual resuscitation of this thread!

One good thing about working from home is that I don't have to endure the London commute on trains without air-con. The bad thing is that my home office directly faces the afternoon sun and it's baking in here today.

Roll on the thunderstorms tomorrow.

A similar tale, actually wouldn't mind being in the office today bathing in the air con. Alas in our loft room working from home, insulated to modern standards but still sodding roasting and I have to listen to my kids splashing around in their nice cool 10ft frame pool. I'll be in it later, last night it was actually pleasant rather than freezing cold.

Yesterday I foolishly ventured out for a run at lunchtime, couldn't stop sweating after that 🥵
