Hi

Can anyone recommend any Italian beer, that isn't Peroni, that I should look out for on my upcoming trip to Tuscany?

I had some great beers in a bar from local brewery when roaming around Tuscany. Cannot remember the name though!

Co-op (which is nothing like the UK version) sells quite a few different beers, especially in the bigger ones.

The blonde beer from the place I linked in the other thread was pretty good and local.

I was really surprised by the quality of the beer when we were at lake como. All the supermarkets had a better range than here including Belgian beers and big hitters from America such as dogfish head.

We were in a little lake side village and it had two breweries knocking out quality craft beer

Look to see if ther is a "Baladins " bar where you are going. I spent hours and hours (over 5, 2 week visits) drinking in the one in Turin
They specialise in craft beer , not only theirs, but every Italian brewer. The food is also good. They do a really nice strong bitter....the name eludes me, but there will be twenty beers on drought and many bottles.
Look them up.
Edit:- the beer was called Elixir, a malty bitter, think Fullers Golden Pride.
They even have a series of beers called open, where they publish the recipe, and methods

So I've been in Italy a couple of days now. Went to the local hypermarket in Lucca and I was very impressed with the range of beer. Most bottles around the €1 mark and many in 66cl. Presumably the duty on beer in Italy is nothing compared to back home.
The Birra Moretti is a range of fruit beers which, while not really my thing, it was nice to see some 'proper' beer available other than the lager types, although these too were wide and varied. It's very hot in Tuscany at the moment so a cold pilsner beer is actually very welcome after a day trying to entertain the kids.
