I have just logged in with my spare browser and emergency user name.

Looks like I am still a member but I shall give it a while before I try going in as "wurzel" :|

Sad state of affairs though when you have to keep a back-up personality just in case.

That's precisely why I lurkalot but rarely bother logging in or posting anymore, and I think that account is linked to an email address which I haven't even checked for at least 6 months.

I love it though when just the thought that I may be watching from the shadows is enough to ensure that some members think they still have to watch their spelling and punctuation.

One should always ,mind the Q's and P's if only Lurkalot to please .

Still can't get through the nonsense over the road :( .

Sh*t sh*t sh*t!!!

Accidently logged in as "wurzel" and I am no more

I'm just wondering what will happen when Forum Administrator shows up as an ex-member :wha:

Hasn't FT been posting as an ex-member ever since it wiped him out last time? I never did work that one out.

He was restored as a member, but each time this thing happens lots of posts get left with being attributed to XXXX Ex-Member, as the FA would need to change every single previous post individually, so just does a bit of a clean up exercise of the 'front pages'.

Oh this is brilliant

You certainly get what you pay for with freeware.

For anyone who doesn't know, the Harris forum only has one Administrator, Andrew Harris (who was imaginatively called Forum Administrator) and no other moderators.

It looks like FA has now become an ex-member of his own forum but has now managed to log on using a new account, imaginatively called Administrator.

This is probably akin to me now going and banning eskimobob, Wez, Vossy, T_S, Calum, James, Tony and finally myself.

Last one out, turn the lights off please.

oops

PS. Dont ban me yet, i'm planning another brew day, wait until after that :thumb: :D

Actually phpBB is freeware . . .what it shows is that you should choose software carefully so that you get software that works . . . and is developed and supported . . .even by the user community. . . .and stay up to date with the latest release.

So far THBF seems to be pretty stable.

And I see that AT is still on the ban list . . . don't think it applies for admin . . .possibly not mods though . . .moley stay away from that button . . .this is not an area for experimentation.

Like Aleman said both Yabb and phpBB are free to use software, from the front the main difference is phpBB uses php and Yabb uses Perl.
Having not used Yabb I cant comment on its quality but its performance on HWM sheds negative light on it although the software may not be the problem, we dont know. As for phpBB its a dream to work with, and one google search shows people becoming ex-members seems a common problem on the Yabb software. But whatever software you use its useless without Admin staff to set up and maintain software wise and Mods to maintain forum wise. Cheers admins & Mods, touch wood havent seen any problems with the forum so far.

Anybody else having problems.

Fixed and working once again :)

Not for long perhaps? I've just noticed a couple of regular users there have become ex-members earlier today (the usual sign of something wrong), but more worryingly is this "Administrator - Ex Member".

I got out unscathed, but I'm not loggin when visiting for a few days.

What also makes me think something is wrong (in addtion to users losing their forum membership) is that lots of posts are showing as having 0 (zero) reads and 9,16,36, etc. replies.

EDIT: The Forum Administrator has just lost his ex-member status, and the site has gone into maintenance mode.
