With the temperatures dropping, I am finding it hard to keep a rolling boil on my 70 litre boiler, which is powered by a gas burner. Has anyone managed to find a way to insulate a boiler that runs off gas?

Do you have the lid on? If not, try partially covering with the lid, it makes a big difference.

As joe says, partially covering with the makes a big difference.

Without thinking, I used some of the foil backed bubble wrap stuff on mine. I can report that it melts quite quickly. Having said this, I ended up cutting away the bottom 2" where it melted and the rest survived.

I Would also be interested to hear what others have used with gas.
