Thanks Notlaw. I think the last time GHW last used a spork was when he was doing 6 months in wormwood scrubs ;)

Not true.

My kids have sporkives. Spoon, fork and knife all in one. Totally pointless.

A runcible spoon is a nonsense term from the poem the owl and the pusscat.

Someone asked what size is a tea spoon.

Except they didn't

I discovered my "teaspoon" wasn't actually a proper teaspoon, and somebody else posted the official size. At no point did anyone ask the size of a teaspoon!

I would consider giving up bottling if I primed each bottle.
I did this twice with Coopers drops on my first two brews then gave up.
I calculate 5 or 6 g per litre depending on style and throw the sugar in 5 mins before bottling, i dont even bother mixing it with boiling water, i havent had any carbing issues, honestly guys its so easy its unreal imo.
Throw the teaspoons away, regardless of size :) ;)

Does that actually work? I thought all the sugar would just sink you the bottom and you'd get uneven carbing. Do you stir it in at all?

Nope,i can guarantee it works, well, for me anyway. All my bottles seem evenly primed.
I use brewing sugar, maybe that dissolves quicker than regular sugar?

May be that's it then. Isn't brewing sugar finer than granulated sugar, so perhaps disperses in the beer better and doesnt just sink to the bottom?

I'm nervous now as I'm new to this. After bottling is there a certain temperature they should be at? I'm debating where to put them.

Hoping mine goes OK.

BOTTLE BOMBS!!
Sounds quite dramatic doesnt it. But tbh you don't really need to worry. I've never had one but that's mostly due to the fact I'm not keen on high carbonation. But I still carb my beer to what you would get a pint of ale in the pub at.
As long as you ensure your fermentation is over by taking a consistant hydrometer reading over three consecutive days your good. After a few brews you'll learn to recogise what your brews look like when there finished fermenting and how long you need to leave them to ferment out, on average. So eventually you don't even need to bother doing this (I've havent taken three consecutive hydrometer readings in I can remember how long).

I've bottled 4 brews now, approaching 100 bottles and none have gone pop yet. Also, 2 of my brews I reckon I over-carbed due to worrying that they wouldn't carb up.! I don't take readings over 3 days, but I leave mine in the fermenter for at least a fortnight. If it's not finished in that time, it probably ain't going to. As long as my FG is lower than the higher end of the predicted FG range, I accept that as finished.

I mostly only leave my beers for 10 days in the FV. Just going by experience of many, many brews I know that 10 days enough for my brews.
