i have enough casks to cover a full length brew of 15 firkins, not as many as i would like and they are not all new to me, we are ready to place the order for 30 stainless casks as soon as we get the next grant of 50% that brings the cost down to £30.50 per stainless cask :) I will be selling off my plastic firkins then.

dont. youll get bugger all for em. buy more you WILL need em

stainless are great but it hurts when they go missing and they will.....

to run a brewery you will need a damn sight more than you think. james from marble told me 300 per 10bbl and hes spot on..... the industry standard is one filled per 7 out... i have 1400 and its not enough! and i run mine at about 4-1 cos we chase our empties. i get empties back ive not seen in 12-18 months sometimes. nowt worse than tipping beer cos you just havent got owt to put it into!

i have been living off plastics for the last few months and every landlord has a moan over them, but you are right, all of you. im going to have to work bloody hard to build up enough casks. let me know if you ever come accross decent number of second hand metals

anyone got a vivaro box lying around

No, but I did buy a couple (yes... a couple!!) of new mini recons from a company in Wolverhampton. They were about the 500 mark. Might be worth getting a recon if it's about the same price as a straight up 2nd hand?

DMD I think they were - no idea if they still exist mind...

im going to have a go at puting a renault laguna box in, turns out its the same gearbox, you can get em for about 150 quid

Casks are a nightmare...I have just bought 32...enough for 2 brews...got them from a mate who reconditions them. I am just brewing once a month on the big kit 5bbl..but envisage that I will need to keep buying them to get to about 100

Have a look at CBR Close Brewery Rentals. They rent out casks for brewery use. Pay monthy per cask. Disadvantage is that it tends to be a 5 years contract. If you loose any they will charge them at the end of the contract at a depreciated price. They will brand the casks as required and also they all come new!

SC,

£720 for a 650l fermentor ?

Do they make them or import them ??

A 300l conical would suit me fine-if they can do that with the fixings I'd be in heaven- I really don't want any Chinese tho'

they modified them from these

they do have these tanks that are about 350L ,

its not my call but for the same work they did to my bigger ones the coist will probably be about the same as what i paid. i will see them this week if you would like me to find out, i will get their email address at same time for you.

i know that the they are 150 quid each before any work

Very nice! Sounds like an awesome deal. I've been looking at importing from China, and they couldn't compete on price or quality for that. I'll have to look into ajp. Do you have their contact? I'd be into to popping over for a look some time in March/April if the offers open?

Very nice !!!! And sounds like you have done well keeping the start up costs down... :thumb: Good luck !

im in brecon beacons wales.
ajp prices are very good but these 2 that they did for me were their first ever vessels of this sort so i had a price that much lower than what they normally would charge( the boss told me so)
they have a complete pilot brewery that they have almost finished work on, its 350L i think, and to give you an idea its 4k with a fermenter. your best bet is to phone ajp hereford and ask for email address for the brewery builders. email them with what your looking for and your budget and they will most likley see what they can do for you.
you can mention Ollie from RedStone Brewery pointed you their way. it may not help :)

Will have to look you up, SWMBO keeps saying she wants to visit the brecon beacons, now I have a reason...

After the South Wales meet up we are trying to plan, think this is an option for the middle of summer.

Like the Website Ollie, did you see the FHM article about the brew dog boys?
