On and off for the past 30 years I have only brewed wine. Because 30 years ago I tried brewing a beer kit and it was really awful. I convinced myself that I could not brew beer.

Three months ago the Missus said my wine is OK, but it is too strong sometimes, and could I brew a beer.

Well the first one was a kit from B&M. Absolutely marvelous.

The second one the beginning of this month. Good but not quite as good as the first.

I know they are kits and should be foolproof. I just wish I had tried a second kit 30 years ago!!

30 years ago the kits were crap I'm told. They are a lot better now. Try the Young's America IPA or a tom Caxton real ale.

If you like hoppy beers, the Youngs kits are excellent but strong.
If you want some variation, I'm sure there will be a kit in the Festival range which you will like.

30 years ago you'd have been drinking Boots Lager.
From what I recall it tasted of yeast and not much else.

About 4 years ago I bought my first kit after a long break. Despite brewing it in the summer with no temperature control I could tell straight away it was far superior to kits in years gone by.
