Hi Guys my hop strainer came off the tap during the boil and as a result even though I seived the wort going in to the FV it is full of break gunk :(

Will this have any detremental effect on the finished beer and should I just leave it to ferment naturally?

Thanks

Some people say it can make a difference.
To be safe I'd get a head on the yeast then rack into another FV and leave the Break behind. Just like the double drop method of fermenation. In a couple of hours the yeast will be up and munching the sugrs again!

The break material won't affect the finished beer, in fact a small amount of break material in the FV is beneficial to the yeast :thumb:
But as md says if it bothers you either skim off the first head as this will contain most of the break material, or drop it into a second FV taking care to ensure that everything is suitably sanitised and that you do not splash the beer around :)

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. The yeast dropping out pretty much packs down the break. The beer was fine, in fact, I'm drinking one right now .. and its crystal clear.

Cheers guys if no ill effects then i'll leave it alone as I dont like faffing with the beer when its in the FV :thumb:

I've fermented on the break ni9e with no ill effects :thumb:
