Well after a marathon session I now have Windows 8.1. I have only just got it up and running, but already I can see an improvement. Not found the 'Start' button yet, but in Desktop there is a Windows button that takes you back to the home tile screen, which is a slight improvement on going to the corner. But so far it's slightly better, but time will tell.

Spoke too soon. I got a compatibility notice about Comodo so tried to uninstall Comodo. Now all I have is a blue screen. Managed to get back on here via Task Manager, but I'm buggered if I know how to restart the rest of it. Already tried restarting. It just took me back to the f....ing blue screen. Ctrl Alt Del at least got up the task manager so I could get here.

After a few restarts I seem to have got it all working again. For some reason Explorer shut down. But for now I only have MS Defender as my firewall which is a concern. I'm surprised Comodo hasn't revamped their system to take into account of 8.1. I might have to do a bit of digging. One good thing I have found is it is easier to remove programs installed as a bundle, such as Cha, Netflix, games, and a bunch of others which I have never used and never will. Right click and it's gone. 8 was never that easy.

@oldbloke,
Like Hairybiker using Mint I have been using Puppy Linux Slacko v5.3.3 for the past 2 years on a variety of machines, and I used an earlier version of Puppy before that. Once you understand what you are doing it takes about 1hr to set up a machine.

I have to agree with you about the nerds of this world and certainly reading thru the Puppy Linux forum there are some folk on there who change their OS possibly more frequently than they change their underwear, they are to be pitied - sad sad folk.
