Good Ed. If you wanted to run it with the fridge not plugged in it would work just fine, especially if the fridge is in a cool place at this time of year

I invested in an aquarium temperature stabiliser (temp controller) it was £26 from a big aquarium shop near to me, it allows me to set the desired temp from 17degC - 30degC by using a brew belt plugged (not wired) into it, it has a temp sensor that I place on the outside of my FV and that has been working fantastically over the past few months.

Look up Aquael Thermostab TS 500. There are a few different models available, Agree with StubbsPKS on the STC as you could use it in the future if you make a lagering fridge, mine is simple to use tho' as you just plug in the brew belt or heating mat etc etc they are rated at 500w so you could, if you had the reason run 20 brew belts as they are rated at 25w
