That's looks nice and clear. How long in the bottle? . I have done my 6th batch today all slightly different recipes and really cant wait to have a taste. 1st lot was very promising on bottling and now a convert to AG. :drink:

brewed on 4th May and bottled on 23rd May, so it was in 1st FV for 12 days and 2nd FV for 1 week before bottling, the temptation last night was to much so I taste tested after 10 days in the bottle and I was very pleased with the taste and clarity, obviously needs more time for better carbonation but it was ok for me at this stage.

I have bottled a Maris Otter, Black Malt, Wheat Malt, Crystal with EKG @ 60 min follwed by 2 x 5gm of Cascade and that looked and smelled amazing when bottled on Saturday

I have just done another Maris Otter, Crystal, Wheat Malt with Summit @ 60 min followed by 2 x 5gm of Cascade, I may dry hop another 5gm Cascade after 1st FV If it doesn't taste to bitter/hoppy

I look forward to hearing what they come out, all sounds very interesting! I did my 7th AG a few days ago, actually doubled up the grain in the same size pot and put 10l in my FV, topped up with water and OG 1050. I don't really know what i am doing but writing my recipes down for reference.
I presume its ok to dry hop with citra pellets?

Just went to do another 10l brew and was gonna try 1kg Maris Otter and 1kg Munich malt but accidentally used 1kg Rauchmaltz so reckon i will shy away from the citra on this one unless its a good idea? I have fuggles, ekg, summit and citra if anyone can suggest anything in the next few hours much appreciated. :)

2 weeks in and my beer is still very cloudy. I've now transferred the beer into a 2nd demijohn and will leave it an extra week before bottling. I used Hop Pellets which broke up during the boil so I think that's where the impurities are coming from. It's a pretty bland ale atm taste wise but may improve in the bottle. It was a pretty simple recipe so I was never expecting much in the first place.

My pot is big enough for a 40 pint kit. With so much work involved I'd rather brew larger quantities.

I'd now like to attempt a simple stout, does anyone have a recipe?

Try this Clibit gave me this one and it is a great beer

Thanks for that recipe but my home brew shop doesn't have Crystal 60 or Northdown Leaf online (they may have it in store)

Suitable alternatives for the Northdown Leaf? East Kent Goldings, Saaz or Fuggles?

And for the Crystal 60, would Crystal Malt suffice?

I'm also assuming the chocolate is a malt?

Sorry for the noob questions but this is all pretty new to me.

i wound not use the ekg maybe fuggles if thats what you have
the crystal i would not worry to much about either any crystal
yes its choc malt

pm me your address and il send you some Crystal for free:wink:

I'll check my shop first and then possibly email you. Their online shop is pretty poor TBH but their instore selection is a lot bigger. I can order online from other shops but I'd rather not pay for postage plus it's good to give my trade to my local business.

Many thanks for the offer.

Crystal sold just as crystal is the same as or very close to Crystal 60. 60 denotes the colour in SRM measurements. Chocolate is chocolate malt. The hop is not important. Challenger would be good, or Admiral, or Pilgrim. But virtually any hop is fine, it's just for bittering.

No problem Mark we are all here to help each other if we can

Re. my cloudiness problem above, I've just read that cold crashing will help clear it so I've made space in the fridge and have in there for a week.

Three days should do it. See how it goes. It would clear in the bottle too. But cold crashing will keep a lot of sediment out of the bottles.

Bit lost for words at the moment with a big grin all over my face but i have to say to clibit a big cheers from me. :drink:
Just tasted my first AG tonight only brewed on the 22nd May and not long in bottle (i know i am impatient) but the difference in taste is immense to what i am drinking now and that's my favourite kit! Being a compulsive fiddler i couldn't help but mix up the grain my first go so i have to wait another week or so before i can try out my single malt batch.
I did my 9th brew today with this technique so TYVM but i could do with a 30l+ induction pot. Been checking ebay but cant seem to find anything
